The National Heritage Council (NHC) is a government institution established under Act No 27 of 2004 to identify, protect, preserve, and promote Namibia's natural and cultural heritage. The organization manages heritage objects (moveable cultural property), heritage places (immovable structures and sites), intangible cultural heritage passed through oral traditions, and UNESCO World Heritage designations, including Twyfelfontein, Namibia's first World Heritage site designated in 2007.
